Do GLP-1 Booster Supplements Work? HUM, Lemme, Pendulum and Supergut Reviewed
"GLP-1 booster" supplements promise some of the appetite effect of Ozempic without a prescription. The honest summary: a few ingredients can modestly raise your body's own GLP-1 after a meal, but none of these products has been shown to cause meaningful weight loss, and the gap to prescription GLP-1 medication is enormous.
What's in the popular GLP-1 supplements
| Product | Main ingredients | Price | The GLP-1 evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| HUM Flatter Me Fiber GLP-1 Booster | 10 g soluble corn fiber, 18 digestive enzymes, ginger, fennel, peppermint | About $30 for 10 servings | One industry-funded study of 19 people on short-term GLP-1 after a meal |
| Lemme GLP-1 Daily | Eriomin (lemon flavonoids), Morosil (blood orange), saffron | $72–$90 a month | Eriomin raised GLP-1 17–22% in small trials; no trial of Lemme's blend |
| Pendulum GLP-1 Probiotic | Akkermansia, C. butyricum, B. infantis, inulin | About $75 a month | 12-week trial in type 2 diabetes improved after-meal glucose; no weight result reported |
| Supergut GLP-1 Booster | Resistant starch (green banana, potato), about 6 g fiber | About $2 a serving | Improved glucose in type 2 diabetes; GLP-1 not measured |
What the studies actually show
- HUM. The "doubles GLP-1" claim comes from a 2015 study of 19 people. The Center for Science in the Public Interest read the data as roughly a 1.5-fold rise, measured for a short window after a meal, with no weight outcome.
- Eriomin (in Lemme). In a 12-week trial in people with prediabetes, GLP-1 rose about 22% and blood sugar improved, but body weight and fat mass didn't change. Nobody has tested Lemme's full blend.
- Pendulum. Its 12-week trial enrolled 76 people with type 2 diabetes on metformin. After-meal glucose improved, but no weight result was reported, and the authors were company employees.
- Berberine (sold separately and in some blends) has the most weight data: pooled trials show about 1–2 kg of loss.
Supplements vs prescription GLP-1s
| GLP-1 supplements | Prescription semaglutide | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | May raise your own short-lived GLP-1 after meals | Activates GLP-1 receptors around the clock for a week per dose |
| Weight loss in trials | None shown for these products; ~1–2 kg for berberine | 14.9% of body weight on average at 68 weeks (STEP 1) |
| Regulation | Dietary supplement; claims aren't FDA-reviewed | FDA-approved drug |
A 15% loss for a 220 lb person is about 33 lb. Fiber and protein with meals are still worthwhile, and they're cheap. But if you're considering a supplement because you want GLP-1-level results, it's worth checking whether you qualify for the real medication instead.
Regulators and lawsuits
The FDA has acted against GLP-1 supplement claims only rarely: a warning letter in December 2024 to a company selling "GLP-1" weight loss supplements as unapproved drugs, and another in May 2026 to an online seller. Lemme faced a private class action in 2025 challenging its GLP-1 claims. Most enforcement has targeted compounded and counterfeit GLP-1 drugs rather than supplements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the HUM GLP-1 booster work?
▾
HUM's Flatter Me Fiber GLP-1 Booster is mainly 10 g of soluble corn fiber plus digestive enzymes and herbs. Its GLP-1 claim rests on a small, industry-funded study of 19 people that measured a short-term rise in GLP-1 after a meal; a nutrition watchdog read the data as about a 1.5-fold rise rather than the advertised doubling. It hasn't been shown to cause weight loss.
Are GLP-1 supplements the same as Ozempic?
▾
No. Prescription GLP-1 drugs like semaglutide are engineered to activate GLP-1 receptors for days at a time and produce about 15% average weight loss in trials. Supplements can, at most, nudge your body's own short-lived GLP-1 release after meals, and none has shown meaningful weight loss as a finished product.
What is the best natural GLP-1 booster?
▾
The best-studied options are ordinary: soluble fiber and protein with meals both raise the body's own GLP-1 response modestly. Among supplement ingredients, berberine has the most weight data, and pooled trials show about 1–2 kg of loss. None comes close to prescription medication.
Has the FDA acted against GLP-1 supplements?
▾
Rarely. The FDA sent a warning letter in December 2024 to a company selling 'GLP-1' weight loss supplements, treating them as unapproved drugs, and another in May 2026 to an online seller over GLP-1 and blood sugar claims. Lemme also faced a private class-action lawsuit in 2025 over its GLP-1 claims.
