Amazon One Medical extends GLP-1 care to 48 states at $39 a visit

Amazon said its One Medical GLP-1 weight management program is now available in 48 states and Washington, D.C., in a page update dated September 15, 2026. Cash-pay virtual visits are priced at $39 for messaging and $59 for video, and Amazon says a One Medical membership is not required to use the program. Most of the weight-loss telehealth brands we track charge a separate monthly membership on top of the medication.

What happened

Amazon published the update on its corporate news site under the byline of Hemalee Patel, DO, Senior Medical Director of Cardiometabolic Health at Amazon One Medical. The page carries an original publication date of April 21, 2026 and an "Updated September 15, 2026" line, and states that the program is "now available in 48 states and Washington, D.C." Amazon does not name the two states that are excluded, and we have not inferred them.

On price, the page lists on-demand virtual care at "$39" for direct messaging and "$59" for video care. The membership language is explicit: "One Medical membership is not required to get started or to schedule a visit." Amazon also says One Medical "accepts most major insurance plans for scheduled in-person and video visits, including GLP-1 Management Program visits." The program therefore runs on two tracks: insurance-based care through One Medical, and a cash-pay on-demand track for people who have neither insurance coverage for it nor a membership.

Medication is billed separately through Amazon Pharmacy. For the oral GLP-1s, Wegovy and Foundayo, Amazon's page describes "insurance coverage starting as low as $25 per month or cash-pay" options "starting at $149 per month." For injectables, it lists "cash-pay pricing starting at $199 per month."

That injectable figure has moved since launch. Reporting the program's launch on April 22, 2026, Healthcare Dive described pills at $25 per month with insurance or "as low as $149 per month" cash-pay, and put cash-pay injectables at a starting cash-pay price of $299 per month. Amazon's own page now advertises an injectable floor of $199. The September 15 expansion was also written up the same day by HIT Consultant and Chain Drug Review, both reporting the same $39, $59, $25, $149 and $199 figures we read on Amazon's page.

Why it matters

Amazon One Medical is not one of the brands we score for weight loss. We rate it only as a primary care service, where it carries a Telehealth Match score of 51.1 out of 100, and that score does not cover this GLP-1 program. We have no affiliate relationship with Amazon. Nothing here is a recommendation of it. What it is useful for is arithmetic, because it prices the same drugs without the largest recurring line item in most competitors' monthly totals.

Here is what the brands our readers actually compare charge before a single milligram is dispensed. Hims & Hers advertises the Wegovy pill from $149/mo, but its weight loss membership is $39 for the first month and $149/month after, billed separately, so month two runs to roughly $298, a structure the company set out in its March 26, 2026 launch release for the Novo Nordisk partnership. How terms like that are disclosed is one strand of the lawsuit the FTC, Utah and Los Angeles County filed against the company on July 29, which alleges failure to clearly disclose material terms, charges taken without express informed consent, and obstructed cancellation. The allegations are unproven and the company denies them. Ro charges a Ro Body membership at $39 for the first month and $149/month after, with medication separate. LifeMD charges a program fee of $39 for the first month and $149/month ongoing, medication separate. Mochi Health charges $39 for the first month and $79/month after. Amazon says no One Medical membership is required; it charges per visit instead. We have not been through its intake, so we cannot rule out other recurring charges, and our own record on the brand's primary care service notes patient complaints of billing above the advertised per-visit rates.

The fee, not the sticker price, is the variable that decides which of these is cheapest for a given person. Four of the programs above advertise medication in the same $149-to-$299 band. They diverge by as much as $149/month on a charge that usually appears in a footnote. Two honesty notes. We are not saying Amazon is cheapest. Whether it is depends on the drug, the strength, whether you have insurance, and what the per-visit cadence works out to over a year; a $39 message here and a $59 video there is not zero. And the four brand entries above have not been re-researched since August 17, 2026. We are not claiming a trend from it, and our own records carry two conflicting first-month figures for LifeMD's program fee: $75 in our published cons and $39 in our product record, which is marked patient-reported. We printed $39, the lower-confidence of the two, and we are re-verifying both. Our Ro entry has a similar split, a $145/mo line in the cons against a confirmed $39-then-$149 product record, and there we printed the confirmed figure.

What this means for patients

• Add the membership or program fee to the advertised medication price before you compare anything. On four of the five programs named above they are separate charges, and the medication price alone is not what you pay.
• Check what you are actually billed in month two. Several of these programs price the first month at $39 and the ongoing month at $149 or $79. The second invoice is the real number.
• If a program has no membership, price the visits instead. Per-visit care replaces a fixed cost with a variable one. Work out how many follow-ups you expect in a year before assuming it comes out lower.
• Confirm your own state. Amazon's figure is 48 states and Washington, D.C., and the page does not list the exclusions. Check availability before you plan around a price.
• Insurance changes the comparison completely. Amazon's page advertises oral GLP-1s from $25/month with eligible coverage against $149/month cash. Ask your plan what it covers before assuming cash-pay is the route.
• Nothing here is clinical guidance. Questions about which medication or strength is right for you go to your prescriber, not to a price comparison.
