Hims & Hers drops compounded GLP-1s as Novo Nordisk drops suit
Hims & Hers said on March 9 that it will stop advertising compounded GLP-1 medications and will instead sell Novo Nordisk's branded Ozempic and Wegovy, in injection and tablet form, on its platform later this month. Novo Nordisk dismissed its patent lawsuit against the company the same day. The largest publicly traded D2C telehealth platform we score has withdrawn the cheap version of the drug from its marketing, and no replacement price has been published yet.
What happened
Novo Nordisk sued Hims & Hers a month ago. Its February 9, 2026 company statement, viewed on March 10, says the company "has filed a lawsuit against telehealth company Hims & Hers ("Hims"), for infringing US Patent 8,129,343 with Hims' compounded semaglutide products for the US market," and that Novo Nordisk "is asking the court to permanently ban Hims from selling unapproved, compounded drugs that infringe our patents, and is seeking to recover damages."
On March 9, Hims & Hers announced an agreement with Novo Nordisk that "will bring Ozempic® (semaglutide) 0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 2 mg injections and Wegovy® (semaglutide) pills and injections to the platform later this month." Three sentences in that release set the terms for existing customers. The company "will no longer advertise compounded GLP-1 offerings on its platform or in its marketing." It will keep compounded access only "for what is anticipated to be a limited set of customers whose clinical needs cannot be met using the increasingly varied set of commercially available FDA-approved GLP-1s." And "existing patients will have the opportunity to transition to FDA-approved medicines when determined clinically appropriate by their providers."
The release also ends the litigation, in one sentence: "Concurrent with this announcement, Novo Nordisk is dismissing its lawsuit against Hims & Hers without prejudice." The release does not describe the dismissal as consideration for the agreement. It states that the two happened together. Without prejudice means Novo Nordisk can refile, a point the Associated Press also made in its March 9 report. The AP reported that Hims & Hers shares "jumped more than 36% in Monday morning trading."
No prices appear anywhere in the March 9 release. It names the medicines and the month, and nothing else a customer can plan around.
Why it matters
Two weeks before this, the company told investors its year depended on the business it has now stopped promoting. The fourth quarter and full year 2025 results, published February 23, 2026, guide to $2.7bn to $2.9bn of 2026 revenue against $2.348bn in 2025, and attach a condition: the outlook "assumes the ongoing ability to provide access to compounded semaglutide through our platform, and no changes to our current business relationships." Both halves of that assumption changed on March 9.
For the roughly 2.5 million subscribers the same release counted at year end, the practical question is what tier they land in. Compounded semaglutide programs across the brands in our database run from about $129/mo to about $369/mo. Branded semaglutide has sat well above that band for cash-pay buyers, which is the reason the compounded market existed at all. We hold no compounded price on record for Hims & Hers itself, and the March 9 release names no price for the branded medicines it is adding, so we are not going to put a number on the gap. The table below shows what our price database holds for Hims & Hers semaglutide today. The structural point stands without one: a patient who was on a compounded program at Hims & Hers is being moved to a different price tier, and has not yet been told what it is.
In our scoring, Hims & Hers sits at 77.5 overall, with Value at 70 — joint lowest of its five dimensions. Our published cons for the brand already include "Compounded GLP-1 programs being phased out after Novo Nordisk deal" and "Some pricing gated behind intake questionnaire." This announcement is the second of those problems applied to the first: the product is changing, and the release names no price for the replacement.

What this means for patients
- If you are on a compounded program at Hims & Hers, nothing in the March 9 release says your current supply stops today. It says advertising stops, and that transitions happen when your provider judges them appropriate. Ask your provider what is planned for your account.
- Ask for the price before the switch, not after. The company has committed to branded medicines this month and has published no figure. Request the total monthly cost in writing, including any separate fees, before you agree to move.
- Read the "limited set of customers" language literally. Continued compounded access is described as an exception decided on clinical grounds, not an option you select.
- The lawsuit ending does not change your prescription. Novo Nordisk's dismissal is without prejudice and concerns patents, not patient care.
- If cost is the deciding factor, compare before the transition. Our Hims & Hers alternatives page and the Hims & Hers vs Ro comparison show where the other platforms we score sit on price today.
- Watch for the pricing announcement rather than the deal announcement. The March 9 release is a statement of intent; it names no price.
